DuBois Central Catholic School held a welcome home celebration for state Rep. Matt Gabler Friday afternoon.
Gabler (R, District 75) spent most of 2018 in the Middle East serving as a medical logistics officer in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.
“It really was quite an interesting experience serving overseas for 2018 and for everybody to come together and throw such an event to welcome me home is quite overwhelming,” Gabler said.
Gabler graduated from DuBois Central Catholic in 2002.
“To see the kids, high school and grade school, looking up to him as a role model, is very uplifting, very positive,” Pennsylvania House Speaker Rep. Mike Turzai said, who also spoke at the celebration.
In the time he was overseas, he was promoted to major and also re-elected to the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives.
“Now that I’m back, I’m ready to try to take on a few of the things I learned and dig in and get ready to serve another term serving the people here in Central Pennsylvania,” Gabler said.
This will be Gabler’s sixth term as state representative representing Clearfield and Elk Counties.
