Running over firehoses puts firefighters’ lives in danger, and you could face a fine

Local News

Altoona firefighters want to remind folks that running over firehoses is dangerous and life-threatening.
Assistant Fire Chief, Mathew Detrich says it seems that people are doing this more frequently in the city.
The last incident was last week while they responded to a fire on broad avenue. Detrich tells us if water gets cut off while fighting a fire, the lives of his men inside the building are in danger. Folks can also be fined up to 300 dollars for running over a fire hose.

“Once they establish a waters supply on the inside, we cannot lose it at all, and if a car damages on of those hose lines, that water supply stops, within seconds the crews can be seriously injuried, or even killed.” said Mathew Detrich.

Folks can also be fined up to 300 dollars for running over a fire hose.
