7,313 fans cheered on the Curve from the stands Thursday night.
That’s the largest opening day attendance in the franchise history.
Altoona Curve General Manager Derek Martin couldn’t think of a better opening day.
He says seeing the stands at the Curve filled was a dream come true.
Martin credits his staff with the successful night.
“As we plan the promotional schedule and figure out what’s going to work out, draw people in, keep it fresh. That’s what we need to do here is to keep it fresh. The weather came together and it was a fantastic night.”
Martin says with 70 games in the season he has high hopes to bring in more fans.
The Altoona Curve has a new inititive this Summer. They’re partnering with local non-profits.
“There’s 2 non-profits featured every game, they use those as ticket fundraisers and bringing their people in because thats who they’re trying to raise awareness for. So it’s been a very good response from them.”
