An area school district will resume random drug testing.

The Bellwood-Antis School District will begin the new drug testing policy at the start of the 2017-18 school year.

Superintendent Thomas McInroy says the purpose of the testing is a preventative measure and to keep a drug free environment.

Dr. McInroy also wants to use the program to help students in need and to educate students and parents.

Grades 7-12 that participate in extracurricular activities and students with a parking pass are subject to testing.
