Altoona police investigate after shots fired near restaurant

ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — Altoona police are investigating after being called to the scene where shots were fired near a local restaurant overnight.

Officers responded to reports of multiple shots fired near 5820 6th Avenue at 12:48 a.m, in the parking lot of Zach’s Sports and Spirits. While responding, multiple vehicles and people on foot fled the scene.

Officers found shell casings in the parking lot after arriving. There were no reported injuries and no evidence of injuries, according to the Altoona Police Department.

Sgt. Matthew Plummer said at least five shots were fired and at least two vehicles fled the scene. Sgt. Plummer said the police department has some descriptions of vehicles and people who were present. This is an active investigation and detectives are reviewing surveillance footage in the area.
