This isn’t the time of year you usually think about a dip in Canoe Creek State Park, but some residents are gearing up for the experience. The annual Polar Plunge to raise money for the Special Olympics Winter Games in Pennsylvania takes place on February 2.
“The Polar Plunge really is just a mental thing it’s really not as bad as many people think but we also know that some people will not do this no matter what the incentive is so we have a Too Chicken To Plunge Event before the plungers actually go in,” says State Trooper David McGarvey, Community Services Officer, Troop G Hollidaysburg.
The event helps cover the cost of Special Olympians who compete to take part in the national games.
