FAA Officials are investigating what forced a small plane to make an emergency landing Tuesday morning in Lackawanna County.
Officials say the plane landed in the Spring Brook Township neighborhood around 10 a-m. narrowly missing homes.
Emergency responders say the pilot, identified as Craig Groff, who was the only person on board, may have blown a motor. He made the emergency landing in an adjacent field, and rolled to a stop just in front of several homes.
Angel Flight East says Groff was carrying the remains of a deceased baby and was headed for Binghamton, New York.
The remains were safely recovered by a funeral home.
Emergency crews had roadways shut down for an extended period of time.
No one was severely injured.
