Phone lines busy at local travel agencies for Citrus Bowl Game.

Local News

State College, Pa- On Sunday, Penn State announced that they’re heading to the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida.

Since then, the phone lines are busy at many local travel agencies. That includes Collegiate Athletic Travel in State College, who’s main focus is booking trips for college sports games.

“We have been getting phone calls all morning. We sent out an email blast last evening so calls are coming in, people are booking online, and hopefully we will be slowing down here toward the end of the week and have our packages all full and booked,” Jenn Krippel, General Manager of Collegiate Athletic Travel said.

Krippel also told WTAJ it’s always a big guessing game each year when preparing trips for different team’s bowl games… and that arranging the trips is a year round job.

“We start preparing for the bowls pretty much as soon as they’re over… so six, nine, 12 months in advance, this is our business,” Krippel said.

Collegiate Athletic Travel is offering a three-night package at the team hotel. This includes airfare, tickets to the team pep rally, along with transportation to-and-from the game, hotel, and airport.

Penn State is facing Kentucky in the Citrus Bowl, which will be played at 1pm on New Year’s Day.

More information on all local trip packages to the game can be found online.
