A little girls’ efforts to change how rape kits are handled has surpassed expectations

We first told you about Madison Wertz’s efforts to create a sustainable funding stream to test rape kits last year, with the held of Pennsylvania Auditor General Eugene DePasquale — A nation wide petition was launched.

It calls for all useable DNA to be put into the federal database to help identify serial offenders.

“Law and Order: SVU” star Mariska Hargitay recently spoke out against the nationwide problem.

“These are not kits sitting on the shelf, these are people’s lives sitting on the shelf,” Hargitay said.
