Penn State Trademark Application Denied

Local News

Penn State’s application to trademark the term “Happy Valley” on shirts and hats has been denied.
The U.S. patent and trademark office said that the words “Happy Valley” are geographically descriptive, meaning when you use the term, it applies to the greater Centre County or State College area.
The university said they could not comment on the decision, as they haven’t reviewed it yet.
Penn State has 6 months to respond to the tradmark refusal, or the application will be abondoned.
