Police said a Chinese exchange student attending Penn State died early Saturday morning after losing control of his corvette.

Officers told us it happened on South Atherton Street near the intersection of West Nittany Ave in State College Borough.

We’re told Kaijing Tang, 21, lost control of his Chevrolet Corvette and struck a tree. The coroner pronounced him dead at the scene.

Officials said the preliminary investigation suggests speed played a factor in the crash.

State College Police are still looking into this case. They are urging anyone who may have information to contact the State College Police Department at 814-234-7150, by e-mail or an anonymous tip through our website.
