Penn State DuBois to celebrate Earth Day

Penn State DuBois is celebrating Earth Day- the best way it knows how teaching others.

This is the fifth annual Earth Day celebration for the school. It’s run by the green team and the wildlife society- organizations that practice conservation throughout the year. “i’s important that we learn how to manage our environment better so that our wildlife can live and strive,” says career services assistant director Anna Akintunde.

There will be more than 20 exhibitors, including a traveling exhibit highlighting the forest industry. Local businesses will also be on site to explain their sustainability programs.”I think a lot of people don’t know how sustainable our businesses in the are. We will have Domtar paper company and they have a sustainable line of paper coming, ”  adds Akintunde.

It’ll also show simple habits residents can start making to help the earth around them. Akintunde says it’s important not to flush medicine, but instead to use proper disposal methods. “Flushing to the medications goes out to our stream and water and animals in the streams and waters.”

The celebration will take place in the gym on the Wednesday from 11 am- 1:30 p.m. It will be open to both students and the public.
