Pastor reacts after Treasurer charged with stealing money

Monday Bellefonte Police officially charged Chuck Kormanski with embezzling over $167,000 for himself.

In the avidavit it says Kormanski has been the church Treasurer since 1998.  He was given over $2,500 in 2018.  Th edocuments say Kormanski wrote 379 checks to himself, going back to December 2011.

William Osman, Pastor of St John Lutheran Church in Bellefonte, says a member of the church discovered money was missing from the church and gave that information to Bellfonte Police.  He says the church is cooperating with police on this case.

“The individual has been relieved of any and all duties here at St John Lutheran, meanwhile we are continuing our regularly scheduled worship services and are praying for everyone involved and affected by this situation,” William Osman, Pastor of St John Lutheran Church in Bellefonte, said.

Kormaski is at the Centre County Correctional Facility.  His bail is $75,000, he is unable to pay it.

The preliminary arrainment was Monday, the preliminary hearing for this case was scheduled for January 23rd at 8:30 at the Centre County Court House.
