A pickup truck driver walks away with only a minor injury after getting hit by a train Monday morning in Jefferson County.
Crews were called to the railroad crossing on Bowers road in Gaskill Township, outside of Big Run, just before 10 a.m.
The driver of the truck failed to stop at the tracks and tried to cross despite the oncoming train.
The Big Run Deputy Fire Chief Scott Bowers warns drivers to use caution when crossing tracks with no gates or lights.
“You got to stop for them, you got to yield for the train, yes they have the whistles, but we don’t have any markers as far as lights or gates and things like that,” Bowers said.
The train was traveling 10 miles per hour at the time of the crash.
