CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ)– New details have been released following a shooting in Worth Township on June 1.

Kyle J. Hockenberry, 28, of Bellefonte has been arrested and charged after he allegedly shot a man during an altercation, according to a release from the Centre County District Attorney’s Office.

Police arrived to a residence along Capstone Lane in Worth Township shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hockenberry had reportedly fled on an ATV but returned and was placed into custody.

Hockenberry and the victim, who work together, had been drinking after work police learned according to the criminal complaint.

A woman on scene told police Hockenberry had recently moved to the residence and overheard him and the victim arguing. At that point the witness saw Hockenberry load items into his truck and drive to the end of the driveway at which point he had to stop because the truck caught on fire.

In a statement from the victim he used a rock to break the driver’s side window to help Hockenberry out of the truck. Their argument then turned physical and that’s when Hockenberry went back to the residence to get a shotgun, according to the criminal complaint.

The victim told police when Hockenberry came back to the truck he pointed the gun at the man’s stomach and pulled the trigger, but the gun did not fire. Hockenberry then pulled the trigger again and shot the man in the front of his left thigh according to the victim’s report to police.

When police interviewed Hockenberry, he alleges that after his truck caught on fire, the man threw a rock to break the driver-side window in and then grabbed and started punching him. This is when he walked back into the residence, retrieved a shotgun and went and attempted to shoot the victim. He also told police that the shotgun failed to discharge, so he cycled the action and pulled the trigger again, shooting the victim in the front of his left thigh.
