The Board of Directors for the Central Pennsylvania Convention & Visitors Bureau (CPCVB) announced the hiring of a new executive director Tuesday morning.

Fritz Smith will be taking over the mantle for Jeffrey S. Vasser, who was announced earlier this year, but was only on the board for a month before taking a job in New Jersey.

Smith has previously worked in state government as the Director of Tourism Operations and as the Deputy Secretary for Tourism, Film & Economic Development. Smith also served as Vice President of Tourism for the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau and most recently as Vice President of Research & Hotel Initiatives for Visit Philadelphia.

“We are thrilled to have found Fritz to lead the continued growth in tourism within our county; he is a true reflection of a hospitality expert,” said Edward Tubbs, President of the CPCVB Board of Directors.

The CPCVB says they will have a reception soon for Smith to meet with the community.
