WTAJ is partnering with the American Red Cross to host a telethon raising money for Tropical Storm Florence relief efforts.
If you want to donate, the telethon is this Monday, September 17, from noon to 6:30 p.m.
All the money will go directly to the Red Cross to distribute and get much needed supplies.
Florence has caused widespread flooding and has left hundreds without power and most are unable to return home.
“We have no feel for it, it could be weeks [or] months that these people could be out of their homes, homes could be destroyed, unlivable. It’s going to be a long-term effect on the people in that area,” said Ken Geary, Executive Director, American Red Cross, PA Mountain Chapter.
Geary said the Red Cross already has volunteers down in place but could use as much help as they can get.
If you want to donate, our telethon will be Monday, September 17.
All you have to do is call in, stop by our Station at 5000 Sixth Avenue in Altoona between noon and 6:30 p.m. or you can donate at: https://www.redcross.org/donate/cm/nexstar-pub.html/
