Friday, nearly 1000 student archers from schools across the state gathered at the Penn State Multi-Sports Complex for this year’s National Archery in the Schools Program State Tournament.
Students from 45 schools took up 95 lanes, all operating at once. Which meant that about 9000 arrows were flying each hour.
While there are trophies and prizes awarded to winners, a larger focus of the archery program is to get kids active and interested in for life.
Over $10,000 worth of scholarships were awarded to the top archers in the state.
