Money goes toward making schools safer

Local News

In the past year, more than $70 million has been put towards making Pennsylvania schools safer for students.

Schools awarded the grants through Act 44 can use them towards upgrading security equipment and adding risk assessments and personnel.

The safe 2 say PA Hotline and a special School Safety and Security Committee were also created.

The act also requires districts to appoint a safety and security coordinator, and hold drills including police to prepare for emergency situations.
