Mail bomb suspect Cesar Sayoc is being held without bond after making his first appearance in a New York federal court Tuesday.
The 56-year-old is accused of mailing at least 16 bombs to targets including CNN, Hillary Clinton, and former President Barack Obama.
None of the explosives went off and no one was injured.
Sayoc is facing five federal charges in the case, which authorities call a domestic terrorist attack.
If convicted, he could spend up to 48 years in prison.
Sayoc’s lawyer says his client plans to plead not guilty.
Sayoc was flown to New York Monday following his October 26 arrest in Florida.
His preliminary hearing is set for November 12.
