We’re following breaking news of a fire at a longtime lumber company in Clearfield County.
The fire was reported around 9:45 p.m. at a warehouse at Walker Lumber Company at 148 Tipple Lane in Woodland. There’s no word on any injuries or a cause of the fire. Multiple fire crews are on scene battling the blaze.
Their web page lists a sawmill, six dry kilns and a main office. It also indicates that the lumber production from this site fuels two other locations, one in Hollidaysburg and one in Pittsburgh.
The Walker Lumber Company has roots back to 1897 and currently has capacity of producing 30,000 board feet of hardwood a day. It’s a wholesale operation of high quality hardwood shipping lumber coast to coast.
