A DuBois woman celebrated her 105th birthday Friday at DuBois Nursing Home.
Born on September 21, 1913, Sophie Simko said her faith is the reason she’s here today.
“God’s been good to me,” Sophie said. “If I didn’t have God in my life, I don’t know what I’d do.”
Activity Director at DuBois Nursing Home Bona Challingsworth has known Sophie for many years. She said Sophie is reminds people of their blessings every day with her signature greeting.
“She likes to remind everyone that God loves them, and she does too,” Challingsworth said. “She wants everyone to feel cheerful and loved. She touches their hands and touches our hearts.”
Sophie celebrated Friday with friends at DuBois Nursing Home. On Saturday, she’ll be joined by her family for a big birthday celebration.
