Local neighborhood builds wall to keep drugs out

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (WBRE) — Bruce Fairchild spent $1,200 to have a fence put up so that it blocks off an alley where there were drug problems.

“These people think that they literally own the street anymore. I’m tired of it. I’m not doing it anymore. I’m going to take back our neighborhood,” Fairchild said.

He and his neighbors say they have all had encounters with people they would describe as “shady”

“They walk right up through my property and sometimes sit on my steps. It’s not acceptable You tell them that and they don’t care,” said neighbor Butch Keithline

These folks hope their wall sends a message to city hall that their neighborhood, their area, is in a crisis.
