A local non-profit is gearing up for their largest fundraiser to fight breast cancer.
Girls Night Out Altoona, Inc. (GNO) is hosting their annual Little Black Dress Party today at 6 p.m. at the Jaffa Shrine in Altoona. This event is a night of education, empowerment and fundraising.
Girls Night Out began as a “pay it forward” project by Cambria County resident Taunia Oechslin, who was diagnosed with breast cancer at 36 and passed away in 2009 at the age of 39.
GNO raises money and donates it to various organizations that help fight breast cancer, including: the Winder Health Care Foundation for the Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center for their mammogram voucher program, Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center for cancer research projects, The Breast Cancer & Women’s Health Institute of Central PA for their mammogram voucher program and the UPMC Altoona Breast Health Center.
Tickets for the event are $50 each and are limited.
