Today the Commission voted to move the start of rifle season to the Saturday after Thanksgiving. That means it would move up two days.
It’s traditionally been the Monday after Thanksgiving. Having it on a Saturday could allow more hunters to get out on the first day. This is a preliminary vote. They will make a final decision April 9.
One other item the Commission voted on was to prepare regulations on allowing the use of semi-automatic centerfire rifles. A vote to adopt that change could happen in July.
