It’s officially cookie season! Baking cookies is a great way to get in the holiday spirit. When it’s time to bring cookies to work, gift them to the mailman, or bring them to a party you want them to look nice. Cookie decorating professional, Katie Eberhart from “A Couple Smart Cookies” gives us a few pro tips that you can try at home.
She recommends starting with a good royal icing. The royal icing allows you to create whatever shape and design that you want for your cookie. You can add more or less water to your recipe depending on how thick you want the consistency to be.
Katie says her decorating process is “wet on wet” meaning you can add layers of decorations, colors, or designs on top of existing layers to make it one consistent look. Each element added with sink in to the base color on the cookie.
Katie says she gets her inspiration from almost anywhere. There is a large cookie decorating culture on Instagram which is where Katie loves to go for new ideas! You can check out some of Katie’s work on her Instagram by clicking here.
