K9 search unit looking for volunteers

Local News

A Jefferson County K9 search and rescue unit is looking for members to join their team.

The Pine Creek K9 Unit needs people to run trails and hide for the dogs during their weekly practices.

They’re also in need of people to help with fundraising events.

They also accept social members who just want to get involved.

“You get out and you get to exercise and have fun with dogs and meet new people and network, learn new skills, so there’s lots of reasons to volunteer,” assistant chief Heather Dimmick said.

Pine Creek K9 Unit is an all-volunteer search team that covers 10 counties in Pennsylvania.

At this time, they’re not in need of more K9s to join the team.

Their next big fundraiser is Rounds for Hounds June 8 at Luigi’s Villa in DuBois.

If you want to get involved, you can reach out to Pine Creek K9 Search Unit on Facebook, or email pinecreekk9searchunit@gmail.com.
