Does a pre-kindergarten program have much impact on a child’s future?
New research finds that full day pre-K can lead to higher math scores and honor courses in middle school, according to Dr. Bill Gormley, Professor, Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy, author of the study.
He said kids in full day programs are also less likely to repeat a grade.
Pennsylvania is one of 43 states where some children can attend state-funded preschool at no cost. Seven other states have universal pre-K, free for all families regardless of income.
