Group to honor hometown heroes with banners

Local News

A group in DuBois wants to honor those who have served the community and country.

Downtown DuBois Revitalization Group plans to fill the streets with Hometown Heroes banners.

The banners will hang on lamp posts and recognize a community member– past or present– for their service.

Banners can feature military members or those who serve the community, like police, firefighters or EMS.

“We have a lot of great community members and citizens that have served our community,” board member Lisa Gabler said. “So we wanted the opportunity to show our support for all our hometown heroes.”

It costs $200 to sponsor a banner. That money will be used to fund the Downtown DuBois Revitalization Group.

Banners feature the name, photo, branch of service, medallion and a sponsor’s name.
