GM plans to close five plants and cut staff in North America

General Motors plans to lay off a large number employees.

General motors will close five plants in North America and cut 15% of its salaried staff, including a quarter of the company’s executives.

It’s all part of an effort to improve overall business performance,  investing more money into technology the company believes will power its future.

Its goal is to save $6 billion annually by the end of 2020.
