Old Fort, Centre County, Pa- A Penn’s Valley bank has announced they’re closing.
Locals that use First National Bank’s Centre Hall Branch will soon have to drive about eight miles down the road to First National’s Boalsburg Branch to do their banking.
It’s part of the bank’s consolidation, and the upcoming closure of the Centre Hall branch marks the third First National Bank to close in rural areas of Centre County.
Many locals are not jovial about the bank’s upcoming closing… especially longtime customers.
Those WTAJ spoke with said it’s not the added travel time that bothers them, rather they were frustrated attempting to understand why the bank is closing.
Many said it gets plenty of foot and car traffic, and is located at one of the most popular intersections in Penn’s Valley.
“I think it’s an ideal location… there’s lots of traffic. Anytime of the day it seems as though there’s a good bit of traffic going in both directions,“ said Geraldine Russell who lives 3 miles from the bank.
First National Bank told WTAJ that the bank’s consolidation with the Boalsburg branch will help maintain “efficient and effective service.
The Centre Hall branch closes April, 12, 2019.
