Fire department teaches safety during Fire Prevention Week

Local News

Area Fire Departments are using this week to teach people about fire safety.

This week is Fire Prevention Week.

That’s why the City of DuBois Fire Department is spending the week visiting daycares and schools.

They show kids their equipment and teach them how to stay safe during a fire.

To end the week, on Friday they’re holding a block party for the community.

“We can talk more to the kids about fire prevention if they didn’t get to see it in school,” 1st Asst. Chief Ben Blakley said. “We have giveaways, we have food and entertainment. It’s not just for kids, adults can come and talk to us too.”

The week is also a reminder to check smoke alarms and fire escape plans.
