Fire Commissioner holds meeting about volunteers

Local News

CRESSON, CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — The State Fire Commissioner discussed the trouble with finding volunteers at a meeting with the public tonight in Cresson.

Commissioner Trego says that Pennsylvania is fortunate to have so many volunteer fire stations, but without enough volunteers to run them, it’s more difficult for them to serve their communities.

Again, there’s no cookie cutter solution if you take a look at volunteerism across the country. It’s everywhere. The fraternal organizations, the elks, the moose, the lions… They are all down on volunteers.

-Bruce Trego, State Fire Commissioner

Trego also spoke with local residents about training updates for the fire department and emergency services.
