Geisinger has expanded women’s health services to the Mount Union Area Medical Center. Expectant mothers can now see health providers and have their babies at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.
Geisinger Lewistown Hospital’s maternity unit delivered 575 babies in 2018. The unit was recently upgraded to provide greater comfort for mothers and their babies and include both certified nurse midwives and physicians who deliver babies.
The Geisinger midwives focus on what mothers can do naturally. The unit also offers the opportunity for epidurals and has the ability to perform C-sections.
Partnering with Mount Union Medical Center helps Geisinger reach out to patients that need prenatal care. We look forward to working closely with them to increase the amount of services that we can offer our amazing patients,” said Carol Knouse, operations manager, Women’s Health, Geisinger.
Services are also available to those in Mifflin, Juniata and Centre counties.
