While Cambria County continues to lead our region in overdose deaths, the coroner there had some positive news Tuesday.
In 2018, there was a 30% drop in overdose deaths from 2017. It went from 87 deaths to 61 deaths. There’s also a drop in suicides, from 27 to 15 and a drop in homicides, from 11 to 5.
The Coroner Jeff Lees says factors that lead to drop include the revival drug Narcan, more public awareness and good medical response.
41 of the 61 people who died from overdose last year in Cambria County had
Fentanyl in their system.
