CVIM thanks volunteers for helping bring health care to those in need

Today, “Centre Volunteers in Medicine” in State College, thanked their volunteers for all their help.  Medical and secreterial volunteers got a free cup of coffee at good day cafe.
 
Last year around 180 volunteers donated more than 87,000 hours to bring medical care, dental care, case management, and medication assistance to people in centre county who don’t have health insurance.
 
“One of the problems in this country is not every one has insurance, Charles Main, Volunteer Family Doctor for CVIM, said.  “I see people who loose their job, loose their health insurance, can’t afford to see a doctor, they need refills on their medications, we can help them out with things like that.”
 
Last year there were over two thousand medical clinic visits and nearly two thousand dental clinic visits through Centre Volunteers in Medicine.
