UNIVERSITY PARK, CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Penn State is looking to build a new university art museum to replace the Palmer Museum of Art.

Penn state wants to build the new museum on a $70,000 square-foot area next to the Botanic Gardens.

The proposed budget for the new museum is listed at $71 million.

Once the new museum is complete, Penn State plans to turn the current building into a “student focused space.”

Officials say the new museum will allow for expanded galleries and more space for events.
