After more than a year, Penn State music students have a new recital hall.

Construction started in June of  2017.

Now, it’s just finishing up on the new facility.

It was built along with renovations in Music Building I and holds more than 400 seats.

“This hall is unique in that it’s vineyard style and there’s seating all around the stage, which means that when we give masterclasses or if we want something more intimate, the audience can sit behind the stage to the side and be very close to the performers,” says Penn State School of Music Director David Frego.

Frego also says the old hall had a lot of limitations. For instance, they would have to turn off the air system to be able to hear the concerts.

The project in total cost about $26 million and $19 million of that funding was provided by the state.
