College Township Gets $1.1 Mil for Pike St Project

Local News

A local township is getting some big money for a construction project.

This week Governor Tom Wolf announced that College Township will be given 1-point-1 million dollars through a grant that will help pay for the Pike St. Project in Lemont.
When that work is complete there will be improved wheelchair accessible sidewalks, new crosswalks, and 60 new parking spots along Pike Street.
Township Manager Burmbaugh says those changes will have a big impact on local businesses.
“We are anticipating that this will actually be a benefit to some of the businesses that are in the village of Lemont, create a little safer pedestrian walkways, as well as crosswalks and provide for a nice environment,” Adam Burmbaugh, Township Manager for College Township said.
Work on that project is expected to start in 2020 and will take between 6 months and a year to finish.
