A Clearfield County couple has been charged with animal Abuse.

Joseph Dush, 64, and Brenda Dush, 49, are charged with Aggravated Cruelty to Animals and Neglect of Animals.

According to court paperwork, back in January, the Sandy Township Police were notified of a dead horse at the DuBois Couple’s residence on Kilmer Road

After the remains were examined by Pennsylvania Animal Diagnostic Laboratory System at Penn State University, it was determined the horse died of starvation. Police believe the horse was malnourished. Officials say the horse had no shelter in freezing temperatures and was tied to a tree.

The couple was arraigned on $10,000 bail. The judge set a bail condition preventing the couple from owning any horses. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 6th.
