Church plans to rebuild after fire

Local News

A Clearfield County church will rebuild after a fire destroyed the church early Sunday morning.

While Riverview Bible Church is a total loss, one thing was still inside- Pastor Mark Eveleth’s Bible.

“After they put the fire out, I went to my office, and there was my bible, wasn’t burned,” Eveleth said. “The firemen marveled that my bible was spared, and they pointed up to the Lord.”

The state fire marshal estimates the damage at over 1 million dollars.

Even with so much destroyed, the church will be rebuilt.

Church member Ruth Wright said she hopes that out of the ashes, a bigger congregation can grow.

“Rebuild and start all over again and get more members, right now we have a small crew,” Wright said.

Fire officials say flames broke out inside the Riverview Bible Church located on Riverview Road in Lawrence Township around 5 a.m. Sunday.

No one was inside the church at the time and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
