Tonight, Centre Crest, the skilled-nursing facility in Bellefonte, kicked off a new fundraising campaign in Centre County.

As part of their “Capital Campaign” they’re asking the public to help them raise 3 million dollars.

That money will be combined with the 3 million dollars they’ve already raised through private donors to open new building on Benner Pike.

Members of Centre Care’s board say the new location will allow them to offer better care than they can give at their current 80 year-old building.

“We’re going from four private rooms to 67 private rooms,” Betsy Boyer, Chairman for the Centre Care Board, said.  “We’re going from 24 beds for memory care to 31 in a secure area.  Probably the biggest thing that we’re being able to add in the new facility is a high acuity care unit.”

Physical donations can be taken to Centre Crest oraccepted online.
The skilled-nursing facility hopes to break ground at the Benner Pike location in March and open the new building in November of 2020.
