Anyone can come out this Saturday to help clean up parks in Philipsburg Borough by picking up trash, weeding and raking leaves.
“The more people we have, the more that we’re going to be able to get done. And I think it is important because this is our home, this is our community,” Moshannon Valley YMCA Branch Director Mel Curtis said.
Rain or shine, the Moshannon Valley YMCA Youth Committee will work to clean up the area parks this Saturday ahead of Memorial Day.
Volunteers will meet at the Moshannon Valley YMCA before heading out to the North and South Parks by the Borough building.
The committee hopes to make this a yearly event to help the community. That’s why they’re making a permanent sign that volunteers can put their handprints on and use as a reminder for the community.
“And really it’s hope for our community to keep moving further…and you know, for young kids to have safe places to go and play,” Curtis said.
The Community Clean-Up is from 10 a.m. until noon, and anyone from the community is welcome to help.
