Julian, Centre County, Pa-  A construction company in Centre County Is looking to give back to the community. Not just for a day or a month…but for an entire year.

Nexen Construction, based in Julian, is currently planning a #Serve2024 initiative where employees will take a year off in the year 2024 to serve the community.

During that year, Nexen will halt all paid projects. Each employee will split time between volunteering, team building activities, and personal time.

The company wants to transfer all employees to a salaried income for 2024…with their volunteer and personal time being planned ahead-of-time.

When asked about the potential for a year-long loss of business, the company’s CEO and Owner Eli Ace wasn’t concerned.

“l’m seeing a lot of politics in business and all these things that I don’t understand… and that gave me a fresh perspective on business… certain things that other business owners maybe because of just everyday business year after year. They might miss a very important principal, and that is to look around and see why they’re doing what they’re doing,” said Ace.

Ace’s goal is to have a similar initiative at Nexen every seven years.
