Cancer Slayer inspires those fighting the disease

Local News

This Sunday, October 7th, John Clay is emceeing the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk at PNG Field in Altoona, at 2p.m.
Leading up to the walk, he found a local woman who is slaying cancer, and has found a unique way to inspire people she’s never even met.

34 year old Meghan Reilly, former soccer star from Altoona High, now wife and mother of two, is back home in Blair County with friends and family.
The fact that she’s still alive is pretty amazing.
Feb 2nd, 2018, she was diagnosed with stage 4 Metaplastic Breast Cancer.
They didn’t expect her to respond to therapy.
The cancer was in her breasts, kidneys, spine, liver and lungs.
But as the scans came back, she was beating it. The doctors were impressed with the results.
She’s living in South Carolina, but her friends from Pennsylvania and around the nation, jumped into action
Kelly Neary of Bellwood started selling stickers with the words “Cancer Slayer” on them to raise money for the massive bills ahead.
Her brother Scott started earning dollars too, with a YouTube channel, interviewing Meghan about every up and down of the treatment.
The response was overwhelming and gave Meghan the strength to fight. She says, “I was so fortunate! That was most surprising thing with my diagnosis. How many people came out of the woodwork, people i haven’t talked to in years. They had the most encouraging messages. So many people wanted to help.”
To everyone’s amazement, Meghan has been slaying the cancer. And as of today she says her blood work looks great. There are no new tumors.
She responded better than her doctors imagined and she knows why. Her faith in God, her positive attitude and the support she’s getting. She’s done with chemo, and she has every reason to believe that she will be inspiring her friends, family and other cancer patients for years to come. Her challenge to everyone reading this message…is “We’re all in this together, no matter what you’re fighting, so slay on slayers!”
