The Cambria County Conservation and Recreation Authority (CCCRA) hosted their third annual Jim Mayer Family Fun Run 5K and Trail Trot along the Jim Mayer Riverside Trail Saturday at 9 a.m.
“As a beginning runner from Johnstown, I could not have asked for a better course,” said participant Keith Pesto. “It [the trail] is easy to get to, good parking, flat, smooth and shaded course without any possible vehicle traffic to worry about. Plus, a great t-shirt!”
The top three 5k female finishers include:
-Misty Demchak (25:50)
-Kelly Zibura (27:33)
-Cheryl Chandler (29:39)
The top three 5k male finishers include:
-Ethan Imhoff (18:37)
-Grant Cruse (19:21)
-Ben Lusk (20:23)
Program Specialist Caytlin Lusk was pleased to see the nearly 50 individuals from Johnstown and surrounding communities come together, despite the rainy weather.
“It’s great to see the community come together, despite what mother nature throws at us,” said Lusk. “We see more and more people using this trail each year as they learn about it’s easy access from the city of Johnstown.”
The Jim Mayer Trail was recently designated as a National Recreation Trail in 2018 alongside the other Cambria County Trails: The Ghost Town Trail and the Path of the Flood Trail.
