BREAKING: Pope defrocks Erie priest accused of sexually abusing children

According to CNN, a local priest charged and sentenced after admitting to sexually assaulting one boy and trying to assault another, has been defrocked.

David Poulson served the Erie Catholic Diocese, which extends into Jefferson County, for 40 years.

He plead guilty to two felony charges in October, including corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children.

As part of the guilty plea, he agreed to laicization, which has now been approved by Pope Francis.

Poulson is currently serving a sentence term of two and a half to 14 years in prison.
