The House is set to vote on a package of bills on September 8th, 2017 that has support from unlikely bedfellows — President Donald Trump and congressional Democrats — but the proposal faces sharp resistance from conservatives.

Lawmakers from both parties are getting ready to try and reach a compromise on border security to keep the government open.

9 lawmakers will meet to discuss those issues Wednesday. Democrats say they’re still opposed to the president’s border wall but are willing to spend money on things like drones, cameras, and fencing in some areas.

If they can’t reach an agreement, government funding runs out again for many agencies in 3 weeks.
The White House says if congress does not approve a border wall it will consider other options.
