The Blair County Sheriff’s Office and Corporal Bennett is raising money to purchase a new vehicle for their K9, Rik.

The Blair County Sheriff’s Office is located in west central Pennsylvania, with a county population of around 126,000 people and a tight budget.

Rik is a 4.5-year-old Belgian Malinois, and has served one year in Afghanistan, and was later retired from the Military Working Dog program.

Rik specializes in explosive detection, patrol operations, and human tracking.

Recently, Rik has transitioned to a new handler and the car they currently have is over-heating, and they need funds to replace it. K9 Rik cannot work on the force until a safe and reliable vehicle can be purchased.

The Blair County Sheriff’s Office is looking to raise around $35,000 total for the new vehicle.

The money will be used solely in the purchasing of a new emergency vehicle, emergency lighting, and K9 safety equipment to be installed inside of the vehicle.

Anyone interested in donating to their cause can visit their GoFundMe page.
