Today, Rep. Sheryl Delozier announced a second try to launch the Marsy’s Law legislative effort. The bill It would amend the Pennsylvania Constitution to protect victims’ rights. Sen. John Sabatina will introduce the bill in the Senate during this legislative session.
The Pennsylvania Constitution explains rights for individuals accused and convicted of crimes, but victims are not mentioned in the constitution so have no recourse when their statutory rights are violated.
With significant legislative support, Marsy’s Law could pass both chambers by June, allowing for the measure to appear on the November 2019 ballot for consideration by Pennsylvania voters.
